At Lincourt Stables, our lesson horses are more than just part of the program—they are beloved teachers, teammates, and trusted friends. These horses have spent years patiently guiding riders of all ages and levels, helping them learn confidence, balance, responsibility, and the joy of partnership. Without them, our barn wouldn’t be the same.
Just like people, horses eventually reach a point where they deserve a slower pace and a life of rest. After years of service, our lesson horses retire from regular work due to age, wear, or medical issues. But retirement isn’t just turning them out in a pasture—it comes with ongoing responsibility. Retired horses still need daily care, feed, farrier and vet visits, and in many cases, special medical treatment.
At Lincourt Stables, we are committed to making sure our horses are honored and cared for long after their work in the arena is done. Some stay with us in quiet retirement; others are rehomed thoughtfully to loving families or sanctuaries suited for their needs. In every case, we ensure their safety and well-being remain the top priority.
Caring for retired horses is a rewarding, but expensive, undertaking. That’s why we’ve created the Lesson Horse Retirement Fund—a dedicated account used to cover the costs of feed, medications, vet care, and comfortable living arrangements for our retired equine teachers.
This fund gives back to the horses who’ve given us so much. Whether you’ve taken lessons, watched your child ride for the first time, or simply love horses, your support helps make happy retirements possible.
