Equine Culture Program Overview

Our vision for this program is to make joining the equine community more accessible to people. We are very aware of how inaccessible and expensive being around horses can be, especially out here in Los Angeles. That is why we’ve crafted this program, where we are hoping to create a close-knit community of people who love horses and are looking to make lasting friendships. Additionally, this program is targeted to people who are 18 and above, if you are a parent who is interested in having your child join the program that can be possible, you will need to be present the whole time and supervise your child.

Individuals with significant equestrian experience may have opportunities to further develop their skills and take on greater responsibilities with certain horses. Likewise, those with little or no prior experience may, over time, gain knowledge and confidence through participation in the program. However, participation does not guarantee riding opportunities, and this program is not intended to provide formal riding instruction or riding lessons.

This program is not intended to be a traditional riding school. Our focus is on developing a well-rounded understanding of horsemanship by exploring the many ways people can learn from, connect with, and enjoy horses beyond riding alone. We encourage an open-minded approach that values education, horse care, handling, and meaningful experiences with horses in all their forms.

Member Participation Expectations

As a member of the Equine Culture Community, you are required to contribute to the care and growth of our program actively.

Contributions may include everyday barn tasks such as cleaning tack, organizing supplies, tidying the office, preparing fly spray, or assisting with general barn upkeep. Members are also welcome to share their professional skills and talents, whether that's helping with repairs and maintenance, marketing and content creation, photography, administration, event planning, or other areas that benefit the program and our horses.

The ways you can contribute will vary based on your interests, abilities, and availability, but all members are expected to participate in some capacity. By sharing our time and talents, we create a stronger community and ensure
the continued well-being of the horses and the program we all enjoy.

Member Interview

We want to ensure that we are all aligned with the goals you have for joining and our vision for this community we are building. That is why we require anyone who wants to join the program to schedule an interview with us. This will be available in the intake form when you are signing up, and you can select an in-person or phone interview. We encourage an in-person interview so you can see the property and we get to meet you better, but we understand that not everyone might be available when we have our openings.

This is a mandatory requirement, and no exceptions will be made for this.

Membership Tiers

We believe that horses should be accessible to those who are willing to learn, contribute, and be part of a community. Our membership tiers provide opportunities to connect with horses and develop your horsemanship without the significant financial commitment of ownership or a lease.

Observer
$50 per Month

Our most accessible membership tier, offering one visit per month to attend a workshop, lecture, grooming class, or hands-on horse handling session.

Participant
$200 per Month

At this tier you are given weekly access to come hang out in our stables, and you're granted access to our monthly educational workshops as well.

Patron
$500 per Month

You're welcome to spend time at the stables during any of Lincourt Stables operating hours, with access to scheduled educational workshops and customized experiences.

Value of this Program

As one can imagine owning and leasing a horse can get expensive quickly so we just wanted share a little bit of a cost breakdown of how much more accessible this program can be versus owning or leasing a horse.

Here are some of the costs you’d typically be faced with when owning a horse.

  • Horse Stall/Boarding: $1,500 (monthly)
  • Purchasing the Horse: Varies $$$
    (one-time cost)
  • Feed (hay, vitamins, etc.): $200 (minimum, monthly)
  • Horse Shoes: $250 (every six weeks)
  • Vet care (Teeth, vaccines, maintenance): $500 (minimum, annually)
  • Grooming: $50 (minimum, monthly)
  • Insurance: $1,500 (per year)
  • Saddles, Bridles, etc: $3,150 (one-time cost for quality used equipment)
  • Staff to care for the horse, calm and beautiful facility, clothing, boots, etc.: $$$

Equine Culture Program Membership Cost Breakdown

Here are the costs associated with the program membership.

  • Membership Tier: $50, $200, $500 (monthly, depending on what you choose.)
  • Appropriate clothing: Varies (depending on what you already have in your closet you might already be equipped with closed-toed shoes, jeans/long pants, etc.)
  • Your time: You must give your time to the community with volunteering in any way you can.
